Looking more sustainable

The North Face has been at the technical forefront of outdoor gear. But the image put forth in the packaging and hang-tags were very ineffective in putting forth the values of the company. In striving to look like a technological leader and sustainable, the North Face tapped Chen Design Associates to change the design of the packaging. Using 100% recycled, non dyed materials and soy based inks, the packages look the part of sustainable.

This new design is not all that revolutionary, it is the change needed to put forth the front The North Face wanted. While I do not condone the use of Helvetica, some places it fits the part. Clean and not overbearing. As for the rest of the packaging, I feel that the recycled paperboard and muted colors help to give a more natural tone. I love the new direction for The North Face. It feels more natural than it did previously, so it did what it intended.
