Changes at Yale Press

Yale Press axed their Paul Rand logo. People seem to be up in arms about this like they were with UPS. full article + irrational comments

  1. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I think Rand's had personality and was a little more lively. But simultaneously, I feel like changing to the university logotype works better in terms of unification (because it's exactly the same as the university logotype). Also, I've always kinda felt Rand's was a little uncomfortable, it's cute and all, a nice little recognizable blip, but as you decipher it, it's a little cumbersome. Sorry Paul, but I sorta dig the new one more.

  2. The foot of the Y, the space beneath the Y and the L...the lack of space between the top serif of the L and the cross-stroke of the A...ehhh it's kinda weird
