  1. The direction of light gives an appearance of the sun shinning through windows on to the stove area, which in this case suggests broken down, abandoned facility. The lighting gives a warm feeling due to the directional lighting and the because it's obviously yellow. If it was the buildings own lighting(shinny down from the ceiling) with yellow lighting it would magnify the grime and make it look like a horror film set. I see this kitchen as dirty, rusted, never/should not be used for food, more for distillation purposes. I can easily see someone distilling they're mash here. The sepia tones, go along with my idea of this old fashioned bootlegger. Making your own spirits in your house or backyard was my initial idea, and the old lifestyle of a bootleggers.
